Photo walks in Jasper Place/Stony Plain Road

About

The Jasper Place Photo Walks took place during the summer of 2025. Four walks explored different corners of Jasper Place and Stony Plain Road, including parks, murals, streets, businesses, and hidden gems.

This project invited community members to connect through the shared joy of photography—no fancy equipment needed, just a phone and a curiosity for capturing everyday beauty. Over four casual walks participants explored the Jasper Place area together, took photos, and met up afterward for coffee and conversation at CH Cafeteria on Stony Plain Road.

Each route was designed to be accessible and inclusive, and the focus was on connection, creativity, and getting outside. The walks attracted people from different communities, cultures, abilities, and walks of life. We all had the opportunity to see the neighbourhood—and each other—with fresh eyes.

The walks were led by Paula Kirman, a west-end based photographer and community builder.

The Jasper Place Photo Walks were supported by a grant from We Belong in Jasper Place, an initiative supported by the Stony Plain Road Business Association.
